Hi,
Are there any professional students who would like to discuss a ballroom or Latin examination technique question. It's possible that I or other teacher members could help. This is only posted to create a 'thread' to get things going.

Hi
I have a question on the samba, reverse turn. The imperial book states minimal weight for man and part weight for lady. I feel that both should be part weight, as you are passing through the movement. Is there any reason why they are different. Thanks

Hello!

i have always viewed body posture in each dance as part of technique...

now i am a little confused specially with Slavik's "innovation" series where he recommends taht we move the pevis area forward (i am not talking of paso).. to attain proper alignment.

any thoughts?

Anyone knows where I can search guides that teaches you which part of muscles do u use when you're doing any technique in Latin dances?
I learn the technique in my place, but they didn't tell me which part of the muscle to use to control the strength and movement...

Very interesting question...unfortunately I doubt there is anything written on this...but what you can do is to liaise with someone from the medical profession (anatomist, osteopath) who has an interest in dancing and they should be able to help you. I know someone in south London who is brilliant for that.

I think what Slavik was talking about is not sticking out your butt as some dancers tend to do. Keeping your pelvis in, means keeping your spine straight. You can excersise this by tying on a sweater onto your waist and having your parnter pull on it to lead you from between your legs while doing rumba walks.
